FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How can I get in contact with you?

We can be reached via e-mail at kakerfoot@yahoo.com, via telephone at 316.393.0410, or via messenger through our Facebook page (The Timeworn Traveler).

Do you have a storefront?

We are proud to sell our home decor items at The Cottage Market in Valley Center and Bittersweet in Derby.

Do you ship your bouquets?

We no longer offer shipping on our bouquets due to the delicate nature of the flowers. We are happy to provide free delivery within a thirty mile radius of Wichita, Kansas, on orders over $50.

How far in advance of my wedding date should I order my flowers?

We recommend ordering as far in advance of your wedding date as possible so that we can place your special event on our calendar. Ordering less than six weeks prior to your event may render us unable to have time to prepare the flowers for your wedding due to scheduling conflicts with other weddings that have already been booked. Wedding orders are prioritized in the order in which they are received unless arrangements are made for rush preparation. Rush preparation (weddings less than six weeks away) may be possible but will require additional payment of 20 percent of your total purchase to prioritize your order. You will need to contact us prior to making your purchase to ensure we can fulfill your request. Historically our busy wedding season is from August-November. Please book early if your wedding is in the fall as our calendar is usually completely booked a few months in advance of the fall season.

Am I limited to the colors featured in the color charts on your website for my flowers?

You are not limited to the colors featured in the color charts on our website. The color charts have been provided as inspiration to help brides determine what color combinations they would like. We are happy to create a custom dye to match any color swatch that you provide us. Please contact us for further information and for details on how to forward your color swatch to us by mail. The cost for creating a custom dye to match a fabric or paint swatch is $6.50 per color created. This is a one time flat fee for creating the custom dye and it applies to your full order regardless of how many items you order (you do not have to pay this fee per bouquet or item). This fee is not assessed if you are choosing colors from the chart on our website.

If I have my bouquet scented how long will the scent last? How can I add scent to my flowers once the scent wears off?

The scent will last approximately three months. If you wish to continue scenting your flowers after that time you can place a few drops of essential oil on the underside of your flowers. Applying oil to the tops of the flowers is not recommended as it may alter the color of the dye.

How do I care for my flowers when my wedding is over?

The flowers are very low maintenance. To preserve the life of them please store them in a dry place at room temperature. Do not keep them in an airtight container or places with excessive moisture. The flowers are made from natural wood so they need to breathe. Keep them out of direct sunlight to ensure that the color does not fade. If the flowers accumulate dust, simply spray them with a can of compressed air (the kind that you purchase at office supply stores to clean your keyboard) and hold the can at least 12" away from the flowers. This will gently blow any dust out of the crevices. You can also utilize a blow dryer on a low cool setting to blow the dust out of the crevices of the flowers.

Do you meet brides for in-person consultations?

We absolutely are happy to meet with you for an in-person consultation! We have created our website for the convenience of our brides who prefer to do their wedding shopping online. We love meeting with our brides in person to discuss their floral options. We are happy to bring sample bouquets, scents, and flowers from our color chart so you can see, smell, and feel the product. We provide free consultations within a thirty mile radius of Wichita.

I feel like I've seen the product somewhere. Have you participated in the bridal expos?

You may remember us from the bridal expo held at Century II in Wichita. We participate in the expo every year in January. We are proud to be the exclusive florist for David's Bridal models for the stage show at the January bridal expo every year since 2017. Our floral home decor items are also sold at The Cottage Market in Valley Center and Bittersweet in Derby.

What is your return or cancellation policy?

Due to the custom nature of the floral products created we do not offer returns on our floral items. Once the product is custom dyed it is difficult for us to repurpose that product. If you are unhappy with your floral items for any reason we are happy to make any reasonable changes so you will be satisfied with your purchase. Upon signing a floral contract with The Timeworn Traveler, the client must pay a nonrefundable retainer fee of 50 percent of the final price to The Timeworn Traveler to secure their wedding/event date on our calendar. The remaining balance is due one week prior to the wedding/event or upon delivery, whichever occurs sooner. Until the non-refundable retainer fee is paid, your wedding/event will not be placed on our calendar. Orders are prioritized in the order in which they are confirmed with the retainer fee. Ordering less than six weeks prior to your wedding/event may render us unable to have time to prepare the flowers for your wedding/event due to scheduling conflicts with other weddings/events that have already been booked. Rush preparation (weddings less than six weeks away) may be possible but will require additional payment of 20 percent of your total purchase to prioritize your order. The client may cancel the contract at any time prior to us dying their flowers by providing written notice to The Timeworn Traveler, but in doing so shall forfeit any monies/deposits paid.

Why choose wooden flowers? What are some of the benefits?

There are many benefits of utilizing wooden flowers in your bouquet. The flowers are beautiful and can be custom dyed to match any color! Wooden floral bouquets are lighter than traditional floral bouquets which makes them more comforable to hold for all of the photographs you will be posing for. They are a nice alternative for brides, grooms, and their family members who are allergic to real flowers. Wooden flowers require little maintenance and you don't have to go to the expense of preservation. We can prepare your bouquet far in advance of your wedding so if you are getting married out-of-state you can transport it with you to your wedding. Since they can be prepared ahead of time it's one less thing to worry about on your wedding day!

How are the flowers delivered to me?

We deliver bouquets in glass vases inside a box that will hold them upright for transportation. Corsages and boutonnieres are delivered in traditional clear plastic boxes.

What sizes of bouquets do you offer? How many flowers are in each?

We offer five different sizes of bouquets - Premium Bridal (not pictured below), Bridal, Bridesmaids, Flower Girl, and Toss bouquets. Premium Bridal Bouquets include approximately 35-45 flowers and feature extra and multiple types of filler/greenery. Bridal bouquets include approximately 35-45 flowers (quantity of flowers depends on the sizes of flowers utilized and the overall look that the bride wishes to achieve). Bridesmaids bouquets include approximately 25-30 flowers, flower girl bouquets include approximately 15-20 flowers, and toss bouquets include approximately 6-10 flowers. Please see the attached photo as a reference for the sizes of the bouquets we offer in proximity to each other. They are (from left to right) bridal, bridesmaids, flower girl, and toss.

Do I need to have a toss bouquet or can I throw my bridal bouquet?

We do recommend that all brides that are planning on having a bouquet toss order a separate toss bouquet. The flowers are somewhat fragile and if they are jostled while being caught or land on the floor it will likely result in some breakage of the petals.

I would like to honor a loved one in my bouquet. Do you have any ideas?

We love to customize your bouquet to honor loved ones! We have created multiple bouquets that honor loved ones and can share the ideas from those bouquets with you or are happy to work with you to create something that is uniquely your own vision. We offer cameo photo charms in which we can place a photo of a loved one or beloved animal. This is also a great option for blended families in which the bride would like to have photos of all of the children incorporated into the handle of the bouquet. We have two different size options and two different color options of charms to choose from. You can add one charm or multiple charms to the handle of your bouquet. Please see the photograph below for an example of our larger cameo charm. The photo placed in the charm is a copy of your original which allows your original photo to be returned to you. We can usually re-size the photo so if you are concerned that your photo is too large please express that to us so we can see if we are able to re-size the photo to fit. We are also happy to incorporate family or costume jewelry into your bouquet. Please see the photos below for examples of ways in which we incorporated jewelry into the handles and flowers of these bouquets. We hand sew all of the jewelry items into the flowers utilizing a strong but clear thread (similar to fishing line) that can later be snipped so that you can remove your jewelry from your bouquet if you choose to. We have also incorporated lace from a mother's wedding gown into our bouquets - both in the handle and the leaves of the bouquet. We can also create a custom wedding handle for your bouquet with your names, wedding date, words to your wedding song, a favorite quote, etc. We have also been asked to incorporate pheasant feathers into boutonnieres and bouquets. These are just a few ideas of how to incorporate loved ones into your bouquet. We are always open to outside of the box ideas so please contact us with your thoughts and ideas and we are happy to bring your vision to life!
